Miles Sparrow MB.BS, FRACP is a gastroenterologist specialising in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and is the Director of the IBD Unit, The Alfred Hospital, Melbourne. After graduating from the University of Melbourne in 1995 he completed basic and advanced training in gastroenterology in Melbourne before undertaking a 3 year clinical research fellowship in the United States at The University of Chicago, Chicago and Mount Sinai Medical Centre, New York. Upon returning to Australia he has been actively involved at the IBD clinics of two teaching hospitals and has commenced work in private practice. His research interests include use and optimisation of immunomodulators, and clinical trials of novel experimental agents in IBD. He is a member of IBD-Australia, IBD-Melbourne and the BRIDGe international young investigators IBD special interest groups.
